Falcons Bring Out the Brooms in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Falcons completed the sweep of Buffalo State on Saturday with a 7-1 victory. The victory propels the Blue and White to 6-2-1 on the season.

The Falcons started the scoring early on Saturday with a goal from freshman Erika Graham (Brighton, Mich.) off assists from freshman Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.) and freshman Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.).

Two minutes later, senior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.) pounded the puck into the back of the net, off passes from sophomore Amanda Carney (Aurora, Ont.) and senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.).

Junior Isabela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.) started the second-period scoring 97 seconds into the period off an assist from Sarah Pearson.

Senior Baileigh Johnson (Neillsville, Wis.) scored a short-handed goal as time expired on the period off assists from senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.) and Emily Reimche.

The Bengals scored in the first minute of the third period on the power play.

Bailleigh Johnson struck again at the 7:27 mark of the third period. Sarah Pearson and Emily Reimche added the assists on the goal.

Three minutes later, Senior Kaytlin Johnson (Black River Falls, Wis.) jumped on the scoring train, off passes from Baileigh Johnson and Sarah Tretina.

Amanda Bauer closed the scoring on the power play, off passes from freshman Natalie Mackrel (Stuttgart, Germany) and freshman Dayna Jones (Juneau, Wis.).

The Falcons blasted the BSU net with 68 shots on Saturday. Sarah Tretina and Brooke Gibson led the effort with nine shots each.

Junior Annalina Van Hercke (Castles Rock, Colo.) vacuumed up 15 saves in her second victory of the weekend.

The Falcons return home on Friday in an NCHA matchup against St. Norbert.
