MEQUON, Wis. – The Marian Sabres picked up their first victory of the year on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over CUW. The Falcons had been unbeaten against the Sabres in the last 13 matchups.
The Sabres started the scoring in the second period.
Senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) leveled the game on the power play for the Falcons in the third period.
The Sabres broke the tie at the 12:30 mark of the third period.
The Falcons killed off all four penalties on Saturday.
CUW outshot Marian on Saturday, 33-28. Junior Colleen Gilligan (Colborne, Ont.) led the Falcons offense with seven shots.
Freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) finished the day with 26 saves.
CUW will hit the road and travel to Buffalo State on Friday.
