Women’s Hockey defeated in NCHA Quarterfinals

DULUTH, Minn. – The Falcons battled to the final moment but No. 5 Concordia Wisconsin's season ended with a 4-1 defeat by No. 2 St. Scholastica in game two of the NCHA Slaats Cup Quarterfinals. The Saints took the series 2-0 and will advance to the Semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Maddy Millar (Anchorage, Alaska) gave the Falcons an early lead with a goal 3:36 into the opening frame. Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.) assisted with the goal.
-The Falcons ended the first period with a 1-0 lead, even though they were outshot 22-10 and 16-6 on goal. Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had 16 saves after just one period of play.
-In the second period, the Saints scored a pair of goals to take the lead. Taylor Murray scored the equalizer 7:52 into the frame, while Rachel Anderson got the eventual game-winner to go ahead 2-1 at 18:27.
-The Saints outshot the Falcons in the second 15-14 and 13-8 in shots on goal.
-Anderson scored again 6:19 into the third period to increase the Saints lead.
-Murray added another Saints goal at 12:47 to set the game at 4-1.
-Pattengale had 34 saves in goal for the Falcons. Lexi Thomeczek had 21 for the Saints.
-The Saints outshot the Falcons 51-41 and 38-22 in shots on goal.
