Women’s Hockey snaps losing streak to UW-Stevens Point

MEQUON, Wis. – In their final home game of the regular season, Concordia Wisconsin broke a seven-game losing streak to UW-Stevens Point with a 3-3 tie on Wednesday night. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 3, UW-Stevens Point 3
-Records: Concordia Wisconsin 12-8-3, UW-Stevens Point (8-13-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons got on the board halfway through the opening period with a goal by Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.), her team-leading 15th goal of the season. Emily Godwin (London, Ontario) assisted on the score.
-Though they were outshot 29-11 through the first two periods, CUW entered the final frame with a 1-0 lead.
-In the third period, the offenses exploded. The Pointers struck first 17 seconds into the frame with a goal by Dani Heitsman.
-Heitsman followed up her goal with another four minutes later to put the Falcons down 2-1.
-Concordia Wisconsin answered with back-to-back goals to retake the lead. Sam Lombardi (Ancaster, Ontario) evened the game at 6:49 in the period and Maddy Millar (Anchorage, Alaska) retook the lead for the Falcons with a goal at the 14:34 mark. Millar assisted Lombardi, and Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) assisted Millar.
-It did not take long for the Pointers to even up the game again, as 23 seconds later Mackenzie Kratch scored to put the score at 3-3.
-Neither team managed to score again, ending the battle in a draw.
-Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had 38 saves in goal for the Falcons. Sydney Conley had 18 for the Pointers.
-The Pointers outshot the Falcons 41-21.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-This was the 19th time Concordia Wisconsin has played UW-Stevens Point in program history. The Falcons are 1-15-3 in the series.
