Women’s Hockey strikes fast to take down the Spartans

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons scored within 14 seconds to start a period twice against the Spartans as Concordia Wisconsin defeated Aurora 4-1 on Friday night. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 4, Aurora 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons got off to a fast start as Maddy Millar (Anchorage, Alaska) scored 14 seconds into the game to give Concordia Wisconsin an immediate lead. Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.) and Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) assisted with the goal.
-Kennedy added another for the Falcons halfway through the first for her seventh of the season. The goal ended up being the game-winner, with Millar assisting.
-The second period didn't go as well for the Falcons as they were held scoreless and the Spartans cut their lead in half. Lauren Martel scored to put Aurora on the board.
-At the start of the third period, the Falcons wasted no time in answering. Shorthanded, the Falcons raced down the ice and Wanless found the net 13 seconds into the final frame. Emily Godwin (London, Ontario) and Sam Lombardi (Ancaster, Ontario) assisted on the shorthanded goal.
-Wanless added an unassisted goal later in the third to increase her season total to a team-leading nine.
-Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had 24 saves in net for the Falcons. Chiara Pfosi had 46 saves for the Spartans.
-The Falcons outshot the Spartans 50-25.
