Fabiilli becomes Women's Hockey all-time wins leader
MEQUON, Wis. – With the Women's Hockey 2-1 overtime win over UW-Superior last Friday, Steve Fabiilli became the all-time winningest head coach in program history.
"It is a credit to the program we have built and our players, past and present, along with the entire coaching staff," said Fabiilli. "I'm a small piece of the puzzle that contributed to this achievement."
The victory marked the 49th in Fabiilli's career as head coach, vaulting him past previous record-holder Jim Ingman who started the program in 2007.
Fabiilli is in his fifth season with the Falcons after becoming the head coach prior to the 2014-15 season. He guided the Falcons to the NCHA Slaats Cup Final in 2014-15, their first and only appearance in the championship game in the history of the program.
The Falcons have had numerous players set program records and achieve individual accolades during Fabiilli's tenure. In 2017-18, Lexi Holman became the Falcons all-time leading goals scorer, while goaltender Christina Pattengale set the program saves mark in just three seasons. In 2016-17, Veronika Metanova set the new mark for career points with the Falcons.
