Women’s Hockey suffers loss to Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin Women's Hockey team fell 3-2 in the series opener with Northland on Friday night. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Northland 3, Concordia Wisconsin 2
-Location: Bay Area Civic Center – Ashland, Wis.
-Records: Northland 2-5-1 (2-4-1 NCHA), Concordia Wisconsin 4-3-2 (2-3-2 NCHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Lumberjacks jumped ahead 1-0 in the first period with a goal by Michaela Isetts-Williams.
-In the second period, Northland had a power play opportunity dashed when Sam Lombardi (Ancaster, Ontario) scored short-handed to even the score for the Falcons. The goal was Lombardi's second of the season.
-Allyson Reilly gave the Lumberjacks the lead again on a goal with 18 seconds remaining in the second.
-Northland went up 3-1 less than three minutes into the third on a Saylor Donnely goal.
-Jossa Danis (Brandon, Manitoba) cut the Lumberjacks' lead in half with her first goal of the season at 8:54 in the final frame.
-Unfortunately, the Falcons would go scoreless through the rest of regulation to end the game down 3-2.
-Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had 20 saves in goal for the Falcons. Gabby Suhr had 20 saves as well for the Lumberjacks.
-The Falcons outshot the Lumberjacks 34-33, though Northland had 23 shots on goal to Concordia Wisconsin's 22.
