Women’s Hockey shuts out Bethel in season opener

BLAINE, Minn. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team opened their season with a shutout 2-0 victory at Bethel on Friday. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 2, Bethel 0
-Location: Bethel University Arena – Blaine, Minnesota
-Records: Concordia Wisconsin 1-0, Bethel 0-1

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons jumped ahead in the first period as Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) scored the first goal of the season for Concordia Wisconsin in the 12th minute, with Emily Reimche earning the first assist of the season.
-Reimche (Billings, Mont.) added a goal of her own in the second period in an unassisted effort. The freshman's goal would be the last of the game as a scoreless third period sealed the win for the Falcons.
-Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ontario) was perfect in goal, saving all 22 shots on goal to shut out the Royals. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-This was the 11th game between Concordia Wisconsin and Bethel in Women's Hockey program history. The Falcons are 4-6-1 in the series, and this win snaps a two-game losing streak. The first meeting between these teams was on November 9, 2007.
