#CUWStatsInfo: Women’s Hockey all set for 2018-19 season

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team has a team-first mentality and a lot of young talent.

CUWFalcons.com prepares you for the season ahead with things you need to know.

Score by Committee: Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.) returns for her junior season after her 11 goal, 13 assist 2017-18 season, though the mentality of the Falcons is not to have a single person carry the team. Rather, the Falcons philosophy is to score by committee, emphasizing selfless performance and overall team effort. Be ready to see a lot of different players scoring this season.

Rotation in Goal: The Falcons operate with a rotation in goal. Senior Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) and junior Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ontario) lead the Falcons rotation, with Pattengale starting 12 games last season and Thomson starting 15. Sophomore Shea Petersen (Rhinelander, Wis.) is ready to step in as well, forming a formidable trio in goal for the Falcons.

Senior Leaders Step Up: The Falcons lost a key piece from last year with the graduation of Lexi Holman. Last season, Holman had 12 assists and led the team with 14 goals. The Falcons will rely on good communication and strong senior leadership to guide their team as they move forward into the season.

Young Talent: The Falcons have a relatively young team this year. 17 of the 26 woman roster are first or second years, with nine freshmen and eight sophomores. Look for the team to grow together throughout the season and form a foundation for the future.

Opening Season Road Trip: It will be a while until the first home game of the season. The Falcons season starts with an away game at Bethel on Friday, October 26, and is the first of six consecutive road games. Concordia Wisconsin holds their home opener on Friday, November 16, against St. Norbert at 7pm in the Ozaukee Ice Center.
