Women's Hockey posts historic goal-scoring Senior Day win over Trine

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team had plenty of celebration on Saturday. Not only did the Falcons celebrate the careers of three outstanding seniors, they celebrated nine goals in a 9-1 rout over Trine. Natasha Wanless became the second player in program history to score four goals in a game and senior Chloe Bachman added a hat trick of her own in the eight-goal win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons did most of their damage in the third period, scoring five times over the final 20 minutes. CUW tallied two goals each in the first and second periods, Wanless (Madison, Wis.) recording one in each of the first two stanzas and two in the final period. Bachman (St. Peter, Minn.) had a goal in the first and two in the third period for her hat trick.

- Adding goals for the Falcons on Saturday was Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) and Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario).

- Lexi Holman (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) had a memorable Senior Day as well with five assists, a new program record. She and Wanless each finished with five points, tying a program mark for most points in a contest.

- Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ontario) made 14 saves for the Falcons in picking up the win between the pipes. CUW outshot Trine, 44-15, on Saturday.

- Kennedy totaled four points in the game for the Falcons. Adding assists in the win for CUW was Amanda Curtin (Houston, Texas), Jossa Danis (Brandon, Manitoba), Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.), Issy Bilton (Burlington, Ontario), Madi Chapman (Rogers, Minn.), and Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons tied the program record for most goals in a game with nine. CUW also scored nine goals on November 14, 2015, against Finlandia.

- The Falcons had four hat tricks in program history before Saturday. Wanless and Bachman became the fifth and sixth players to record hat tricks.

- The senior class (Bachman, Curtin, Holman) is the winningest in program history with 42 wins.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons win clinched the No. 4 seed in the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs. CUW will face St. Scholastica next weekend in the opening round.
