Pointers deal Women's Hockey non-conference setback

MEQUON, Wis. – Playing for the third time in four days, the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team fell in non-conference action at UW-Stevens Point Tuesday night. The host Pointers scored twice in the opening period and tacked a goal on late in the third, resulting in a 3-1 setback for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pointers scored twice in the opening stanza to build a 2-0 lead Tuesday. Lexi Englund scored eight minutes into play while Ali Biagni struck 4:44 later to make the score 2-0. Biagni and McKenna Butcher had assists on the Englund score.

- The Falcons only goal came off the stick of freshman Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska) 5:12 into the second period. Junior Jossa Danis (Brandon, Manitoba) assisted on the Hull goal.

- The score remained 2-1 until late in the third period when the Pointers received an insurance goal with 3:10 left on the clock. The score came from Alex Grubbs and was scored on the power play, the lone power play goal for either side in the contest.

- Each team had just two opportunities on the power play Tuesday, but the Pointers power play goal did come late on a five-minute opportunity after a major infraction against the Falcons. CUW was whistled three times for nine totally penalty minutes while the Pointers also committed three penalties for a total of six minutes in the box.

- Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ontario) made 33 saves for the Falcons who were outshot heavily. CUW finished the contest with just 13 shots on goal as the Pointers goaltender, Lisa Fowle, stopped 12 shots in picking up the win.

- The Falcons will host Trine for two games this weekend, beginning with a Friday contest at 5 p.m.
