Women's Hockey erupts for six goals in Monday Matinee with Spartans

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team may be looking to play more games on Monday afternoons after the Falcons dominated Aurora with a six-goal effort Monday. CUW tallied a season-best goals total in a 6-0 NCHA win. The Falcons also clinched an NCHA Playoff berth with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons tallied one score in the first, two in the second, and three in the third to reach the season-best six-goal total. Jossa Danis (Brandon, Manitoba) scored twice in the win, once in the second period and another in the third.

- Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.), who finished with a team-best three points, tallied the game-winning goal 7:52 into the opening period. Wanless' first-period score was unassisted.

- Danis and senior Amanda Curtin (Houston, Texas) recorded the second-period scores for the Falcons, Curtin's the first of her career. Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska) assisted on the Danis score while Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) posted a helper on the Curtin goal.

- In the third period, Danis made the score 4-0 with a deflection off a shot form Curtin, who recorded an assist on the play. Issy Bilton (Burlington, Ontario) picked up an assist on the goal as well.

- Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) and Lexi Holman (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) scored the final two goals for the Falcons, with Wanless assisting on both. Holman added an assist on the Kennedy score while Kennedy returned the favor on Holman's goal.

- Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ontario) added to her single-season record with her fourth shutout of the season. Thomson stopped 18 shots in her seventh win of the season. Three of her shutouts have come at home this season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons had actually already clinched a postseason berth thanks to other NCHA results from the weekend. CUW needed one point, or other results, entering the weekend and picked up two with the win on Monday.

- The win marks the fourth time in program history CUW has won double-digit games. Three of those seasons have come under Steve Fabiilli, who took over in 2014-15.

- The Falcons will continue their busy week tomorrow with a non-conference game at UW-Stevens Point. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
