Women’s Basketball rams Rockford, wins eighth straight

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons extended their winning streak to eight games with a 97-41 victory over the Regents of Rockford. The CUW women's basketball team improves to 12-4 on the season and to 11-2 in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference.

The Falcons jumped on the Regents early and never looked back. The Blue and White opened the game on a 23-7 run. Junior Arianna Liddicoat (Watertown, Wis.) scored nine points in the run, with sophomore Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) adding five assists.

The Blue and White took a 45-18 lead into halftime and added 28 more points in the third quarter. The 28 points are the most in a single quarter since the Falcons scored 29 points in the third quarter of the Dec. 29 game at Illinois Tech.

CUW owned the boards on Saturday, outrebounding the Regents, 57-34. The Falcons finished the day with a season-high 22 offensive rebounds. Freshman Aubrey Buchholtz (Seymour, Wis.) and freshman Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.) led the flock with four offensive rebounds.

Camryn Szolyga led all players with 10 rebounds, which is a career-high mark for Szolyga.

Senior Baylee Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) led all players with 20 points on Saturday, CUW finished with four players with double-digit points. Emily Hafemann had 15 points, while sophomore Hannah Boettcher (Columbus, Wis.) and sophomore Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) finished with 10 points.

CUW ended with 20 assists, with Emily Hafemann led all players with six.

Concordia Wisconsin has scored 97 points in the last two games; the two-game total of 194 points is a program record.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday when they welcome the Stars of Dominican to the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse.
