Falcons blow by Cougars in NACC matchup

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin opened the game on a 17-5 scoring run and continued to run away as each minute ticked off the clock until finally earning an 86-58 victory over Concordia Chicago on Wednesday evening inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- As has been the mantra for the Falcons this season, they went to the painted area early and often, scoring 24 points around the rim by halftime. They used a game-opening 17-5 scoring run and a 12-1 run in the second quarter to blow the game wide open before halftime.
- Concordia Wisconsin scored 48 points in the paint for the second-straight game and received a strong effort from its bench with 45 points. Senior Taylor DeLong continues to shine with a team-best 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting, while also grabbing eight rebounds in just 17 minutes of action.
- The Falcons held a commanding 58-34 advantage in rebounding (23-11 offensive) and a 34-16 difference in free throw attempts.
- Sophomore Baylee Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) broke out of a scoring slump and tallied a career-high 15 points, while junior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) had 10 points and 13 rebounds in 20 minutes of play.
- Junior Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) had a monster game with 10 points, 13 rebounds, career-best five assists, three steals and a block in 25 minutes on the court.
- The Falcons also had three starters score seven points each and combine for 12 rebounds and six assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin's 86 points are the most since scoring 87 in a home win to end the regular season last year against Concordia Chicago.
- The Falcons 58 rebounds are tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history, while its 34 free throw attempts are tied for 10th most.
- Freshmen Clara Chambers (Darlington, Wis.) and Kelsey Birschbach (Fond du Lac, Wis.) had six and four rebounds, respectively, which are both season-highs.
- DeLong had a career night shooting, finishing 10-of-14 from the field.

THE OPPOSITION
- Taylor Jacobsen led all players with 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting.
- Lauren Orr added 17 points, but didn't shoot well (6-of-21 overall, 1-of-9 from downtown).
