Spot in NAC Championship game on the line for Women's Basketball

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's women's basketball team will try and earn a spot in the Northern Athletics Conference Championship game as it hosts Maranatha Baptist Bible College Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the R. John Buuck Field House.

The winner of Thursday's contest will take on the winner of top-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College and No. 4 Benedictine University. If WLC wins, Saturday evening's championship game will be on the Warriors home court. If BenU wins the winner of CUW-MBBC will host. The title game will start at 7 p.m.

The Falcons and Crusaders split a pair of regular season contests this year with the road team winning each game. MBBC won 52-50 on December 8 but CUW responded with a 71-53 victory January 29. Junior Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) scored 19 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and dished out four assists in the win.

CUW (18-8) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Rockford College, 72-54, Saturday night. Junior Camille Parsons (Urbana, Ill.) led three Falcons players in double figures with a team-high 17 points. Luethe added 15 points and senior Brittany Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) chipped in with 10 points while dishing out a game-high nine assists. Zietlow is tied for the conference lead in assists, averaging 4.9 per game.

MBBC (19-5) scored a 67-50 win over No. 6 Concordia University Chicago in the quarterfinals. Laci Peterson poured in 20 points and blocked six shots to lead the Crusaders. Peterson leads all of Division III in blocks per game, averaging five per contest.
