Rockford up next for CUW women/ The Scouting Report

MEQUON, Wis.-  First place Concordia Wisconsin could conceivably earn at least a tie for the NAC North Conference crown with a win over Rockford on Saturday in the Buuck Fieldhouse. CUW, 12-2 in conference play with four games remaining, has a 2 1/2 game lead over Alverno heading into today's action.

Rockford is 5-15 on the season, including a 3-9 mark in the NAC South.  The Regents are led by Erin Ryczek who has scored close to 13 points per game in conference play.  Ryczek, the team's top 3-point threat, is actually shooting better from long range (28-84) than from inside.

Nicole Lawler averages just under 10 points per outing and leads Regent rebounders with over seven per game.  She is the only Rockford player to have started all 20 games.

Rockford is averaging just 55 points per game while allowing 65.  Opponents have attempted 400 free throws in those 20 contests.  The most glaring negative for RC is a 23 turnover per game statistic, but the Illinois school has also forced opponents into 18 errors per outing.

                                                      Keys for CUW

Play Pressure Defense-       Rockford has been prone to turnovers when pressured.

Pass the ball effectively-    The Regents have had foul trouble when opponents get the ball inside

Avoid Post foul trouble-      CUW needs to have their post players available for the entire game.

                                                      Falcon Notes

Concordia just needs to keep winning.  The Falcons, 12-2 in conference action, have been successful  in nine of their ten most recent outings and have a 2  1/2 game lead over Alverno in the NAC North chase.  Katie Luethe leads CUW with a 13.3 scoring average and is also tops in rebounds with a 5.8 average.

Camille Parsons is averaging 9.2 points while the balanced Falcons have Brittany Zietlow at 7.9 and Megan Coenen at 7.7.  Tiffany Hendrickson, Allison Paluchniak, and Anna Butler all score between five and seven points per contest for CUW, which is 15-6 overall.  Zietlow is dishing out almost five assists per contest.

The defensive-minded Falcons average just over 62 points per game while allowing 53.5.   Concordia shoots 40% from the field, but opponents are at 38%.   CUW has shot 378 free throws, hitting 71% of those while opponents have managed to connect on less than 65% of their charity tosses.   After today's game the Falcons will have contests with Marian, Wisconsin Lutheran, and Alverno remaining on their regular season schedule.
