#CUWStatsInfo: A look at Jamie Schuh's career strikeouts record

MEQUON, Wis. – On Saturday, April 19 senior Jamie Schuh recorded her 341st career strikeout in a game against Benedictine University. That strike out, which came in the second inning, made Schuh the all-time leader in strikeouts for Concordia University Wisconsin. She passed Danielle Burke who recorded 340 from 2009-12.

#CUWStatsInfo takes a deeper look into the impressive career of Schuh (Freedom, Wis.). Schuh and her teammates have eight regular season games remaining and need a strong finish in conference play to assure themselves a spot in the NACC Tournament.

BY GAME: Schuh has had some impressive games throughout her career. She has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in a game seven times. Her two best strikeout contests came in her junior season of 2013, including a career-best 16 against Alverno College on April 20. Schuh also struck out 13 Edgewood College batters five days later (April 25).

As of Tuesday Schuh has made 80 appearances and is averaging 4.3 strikeouts per appearance. She has started 63 of those games. Below is a table of the top seven strikeout performances of her career:

Date Opponent Strikeouts
4/20/13 at Alverno 16
4/25/13 Edgewood 13
3/27/12 Maranatha Baptist 11
4/21/11 at Alverno 11
4/6/14 Rockford 10
5/2/13 vs. Concordia Chicago 10
4/23/11 at Rockford 10

BY SEASON: Schuh's top strikeout season came in 2013 when she recorded 140. That was her only season of 100 or more strikeouts as the standout pitcher punched out 96 batters in 2012 and 67 (in 71 innings) in 2011.

This season Schuh has 40 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched. Despite being on pace for her lowest strikeout total of her four-year career, Schuh has her best career ERA (1.45).

Here is a look at Schuh's strikeout totals by season over the past four years (after April 21 doubleheader against Concordia Chicago).

Schuh has had an impressive four-year career with the Falcons and still has time to go to increase her strikeout lead. She currently ranks 11th all-time in the NACC in strikeouts and is now 17 away from moving into the top 10.
