De Lap breaks five American Records at Desert Solstice Event

PHOENIX – On December 9, Concordia University Wisconsin Cross Country and Track & Field head coach Russ De Lap was one of 30 runners aiming at setting new distance American Records. De Lap didn't disappoint, as the Falcons coach set five new American records at the Desert Solstice event.

De Lap set American Records for the Male 60-64 division in the 20K, 25K, 30K, two hour, and 20-mile. He ran a total of 20 miles at the event and broke the old marks which were all held by Mark Richman.

De Lap has spent the last year training for the Desert Solstice, an event that invites 30 runners from around the country. De Lap expressed his interest in the event and was invited, allowing him to focus on setting a new standard in his age division.

De Lap was one of several runners to set a new American Record at the Desert Solstice. The event also saw a new World Record set as Camille Herron broke the Women's 12 Hour All-Surface record.
