
Several personal-best times set for Men's Cross Country at home meet
MEQUON, Wis. – Running in their first 8K race of the season, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Cross Country team had several strong performances at the Falcon Invitational Saturday afternoon. CUW finished fifth out of 15 scoring teams at its home meet.
Two runners who stood out on Saturday were senior Robert Meilbeck (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) and sophomore Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.). Meilbeck moved into the 15th on the CUW top 20 list and finished 22nd in the race with a PR time of 27:31. Taylor ran a 27:45, shattering his previous best time by 1:43.
Two other Falcons had impressive personal-best times at the home meet in junior Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis.) and sophomore Aaron Reseburg (Sheboygan, Wis.). Reseburg beat his previous best time by 39 seconds, running 28:57, while Hinck ran a 28:33, a 24-second improvement on his previous best race.
Tyler Neuwirth was the third Falcon to cross the finish line, running a 28:20. Freshman Brennan Linse (Jefferson, Wis.) also impressed in his 8K debut, completing the course in 28:56.
UW-La Crosse ran away with the team title, earning 16 points and finishing with seven runners in the top 10. The Falcons were the second-best NACC finishing school, being edged by Aurora. The Spartans took fourth with 157 points, CUW finishing with 175.
CUW will return to action in two weeks when they take part in the Roy Griak Invitational. The men's race is scheduled for a 10:40 start.
