Men’s Track & Field finishes fifth at NACC Championships

LISLE, Ill. – The Falcons finished the two-day NACC Outdoor Track & Field in fifth place with 79.5 points. Benedictine and Aurora shared the title with 169 points. The shared title is the first since 2012, when CUW and Benedictine shared the title. The Blue and White finished the championships with two individual titles.

Junior Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.) earned the NACC crown in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 48.32.

Freshman Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) earned the bronze medal in the shot put at 13.02 meters.

The Blue and White finished in fourth place in the 4x100 meter relay. The team of sophomore Preus Hasselbrook (Missoula, Mont.), junior Brandon Wooden (Milwaukee, Wis.), freshman Nathan Maldonado (Saint Charles, Mo.) and sophomore Paul Leahy (Eldridge, Iowa) finished at 43.57.

In the 4x400 meter relay, CUW finished in fourth place. The team of junior Henry Jensen (Muskego, Wis.), Preus Hasselbrook, sophomore Emmett Williams (Hartford, Wis.) and Samual Spranger crossed the finish line at 3:24.98.

The Falcons had two individuals score in the 200-meter dash. Paul Leahy recorded a fourth-place time of 22.34. Samual Spranger was in seventh place at 22.67.

In the hammer throw, junior Ryan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) finished seventh at 36.41 meters.

Freshman Austin Lopez (Ripon, Wis.) was seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.77 meters. He also finished 13th in the long jump at 5.79 meters.

Freshman Jack Kral (Kohler, Wis.) led the flock in the 5000-meter run in eighth place at 16:21.08.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Henry Jensen placed eighth at 1:02.41. In ninth place was Preus Hasselbrook at 1:07.15. Jensen also recorded a ninth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.70.

Freshman Derrick Folkman (Bonduel, Wis.) finished in 25th place in the 1500-meter run at 4:53.11.

Individuals will compete next at the North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational on May 9.
