Men’s Track & Field record falls in Michigan

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Falcons picked up 16 points in a tough field of competitors at the Grand Valley State Bob Eubanks Open. The CUW men's track & field team finished in 11th place with teams representing NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Canada. The school record in the 400-meter dash fell on Friday.

Junior Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.) broke his own school record in the 400-meter dash on Friday. Spranger was the fastest Division III runner with a time of 49.32, finishing third overall.

Spranger also finished 25th in the 200-meter dash at 23.10.

Sophomore Craig Reese (Germantown, Wis.) finished fifth in the 3000-meter run. Reese finished at 8:50.06.

In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Marquis Thorn (Atlanta, Ga.) finished in 20th place at 7.26.

Sophomore Emmett Williams (Hartford, Wis.) crossed the finish line at 2:05.32 in 23rd place in the 800-meter run.

In 12th place in the 60-meter hurdles was junior Henry Jensen (Muskego, Wis.) at 10.83.

The Falcons finished 15th in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of sophomore Preus Hasselbrook (Missoula, Mont.), Henry Jensen, senior Nick Margrett (Brookfield, Wis.) and Samual Spranger finished at 3:37.58.

Freshman Austin Lopez (Ripon, Wis.) cleared 1.74 meters in the high jump.

On the pole vault, senior Grant Johnson (Oconomowoc, Wis.) finished 17th at 3.90 meters.

Junior Brandon Wooden (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Falcons in the triple jump at 12.34 meters.

In the throws, freshman Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the Falcons at the shot put at 12.35 meters. Junior Ryan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) led the Falcons in the weight throw at 11.49 meters.

The Falcons return to action on Jan. 25 at Carthage.
