Men's Tennis splits matches Saturday

JACKSON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches Saturday evening. The Falcons rebounded for a 6-3 win over St. Norbert after being defeated by a 9-0 score against UW-La Crosse.

- Records: CUW 2-7; UW-La Crosse 7-2; St. Norbert 2-1

CUW 6, ST. NORBERT 3
- The Falcons gained a win over the Green Knights, winning two of three in doubles play and four of six in singles play. Ceejay Schaffner (Winona, Minn.), Brad Guendel (Glendale, Wis.), and Gabe Binversie (Plymouth, Wis.) all went 2-0 to help lead the Falcons to a win.

- Schaffner posted a 6-2, 6-0 win in his No. 2 singles match and partnered with Nolan Rademacher (Monument, Colo.) for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Guendel and Binversie posted a 9-7 victory in their No. 2 doubles match.

- Guendel had an up-and-down match for his No. 3 singles victory as he took the first set 6-1 before falling 0-6 in set two. Guendel then won a third-set tiebreaker, 15-13, for pick up a thrilling victory.

- Binversie posted a straight sets 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles for the Falcons while Nathan Raskin (Shorewood, Wis.) gained a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.  

UW-LA CROSSE 9, CUW 0  
- The Eagles proved to be too much for the Falcons in the opening match, winning all six singles contests in straight sets. UW-La Crosse began the day with a clean sweep in doubles play.

UP NEXT
- CUW is off until its five-match spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Falcons will begin the trip with two matches Monday, March 12 against Greenville and Indiana East.
