Falcons Rally to Sink the Sabres

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons remained unbeaten on the shores of Lake Michigan and earned another three big points in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) on Wednesday evening. The Blue and White bounced the Sabres of Marian to the tune of a 3-2 victory to soar to 6-3-4 and to 3-2-3 in the NACC with 12 points.

Senior Angel Uriostegui (Grayslake, Ill.) started the scoring in the 42nd minute when he threw a corner kick into the back of the net.

Uriostegui struck again 61 seconds later with a blast to the upper corner of the net off a pass from senior Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.).

The Sabres scraped back with two goals of their own to start off the second half.

The Falcons continued to pressure the Marian net with multiple opportunities, but could not connect.

In the 82nd minute, the Falcons were able to break through on a corner kick from senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) that senior Jacob Stemper (Hartland, Wis.) headed in.

The Falcons were not out of the storm with the third goal and the Sabres attacked the CUW net in the final eight minutes. But freshman Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) came up big for the birds once again.

Munoz finished the match with six saves.

Angel Uriostegui led the flock with three shots on goal in the victory.

The victory is the 22nd in a row for the Falcons over the Sabres.

The Falcons close the home portion of the schedule on Saturday against the Stars of Dominican.
