Men’s Soccer wins at Rockford in regular season finale, 5-0

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The CUW men's soccer team closed the regular season with a 5-0 victory at Rockford to improve to 10-6-1 on the year and 7-3-1 in the NACC. Rockford falls to 8-10-2 and 3-7-1 in the NACC.

"I told our team that we are getting better at the end of the season especially in the attacking third," said head coach Dr. Tom Saleska. "We are more consistent and we are looking forward to the tournament."

CUW will host Wisconsin Lutheran on Sunday in the quarterfinal round of the NACC Tournament. The Falcons defeated Wisconsin Lutheran on Oct. 3, 4-0.

Sophomore Christian Tyrpak (Hartford, Wis.) found the back of the net in the 38th minute off a cross from sophomore Avery Grondin (La Salle, Ont.).

Tyrpak struck again in the 50th minute for his team-leading ninth goal of the season after he tapped the ball in off a rebound.

Sophomore Simon Da-Silva (Lagos, Nigeria) scored in the 73rd minute from senior Dagoberto Diaz (Woodburn, Ore.).

Freshman Spencer Stanarski (Waukesha, Wis.) sank the fourth goal into the net off a pass from sophomore Tyler Salvador (Lindenhurst, Ill.).

Tw minutes later, sophomore Giampaolo Lassila (Green Bay, Wis.) closed the scoring with a shot to the lower right corner.

Junior Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.) and sophomore Joshua Bobke (Oconomowoc, Wis.) finished with a combined shutout. Wednesday was the seventh shutout of the season for the Falcons.

The Falcons outshot Rockford on Wednesday night, 17-5.
