Men's Soccer will be strong again in 2013

MEQUON, Wis.- Saying goodbye to seniors is a difficult aspect of all collegiate athletic programs.

Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer will need to replace 3-time 1st Team All Conference midfielder Kyle Sytsma (Antioch, Ill.) and 2012 Second Team all NAC performers Sam Ische (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Zach Lemler (West Bend, Wis.) 

Other Falcons who will head out into the world include starters James Kroll (York, Ill.), and Tyler Harris (De Pere, Wis.) plus valuable substitutes Arturo Vera (Chicago, Ill.) and Ben Gyuricza (Palatine, Ill.). 

"This senior class is one of the best groups of student athletes we have recruited since I came to CUW.  Collectively they are good students, outstanding players, and fine representatives of our university," explained Coach Tom Saleska.

CUW will have plenty of firepower returning from the team that tied for second in the NAC at 8-2-1 and lost in the NCAA qualifer 2-1 to Dominican next fall.  Forward Jacob Pope, a two-time First Team honoree will be back for his senior season, along with First Team selection Diego Campos (So./ Milwaukee, Wis.). 

Four other starters return, plus a host of valuable 2012 situational players who will jump into starting roles. 

 "We really like our current freshman class," smiled Saleska.  Keegan Van Dusseldorp (Burlington, Wis.) and Ryan Carey (Appleton, Wis.) have developed into solid collegiate players.  Jake Barnes (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) and Mitchell Boehm (Plymouth, Mich.) stepped into starting roles as central defenders and did very well.  Mark Samuel (Brookfield, Wis.) Nicholas Hopper (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) , and Nicholas Kuroski (Mt. Pleasant, Wis.) all came on during the season and will have positive impacts on our program in the near future Once Alec Brew (Appleton, Wis.) gets stronger, he should be a quality goalie too. You can't help but be excited about next season."
