MEQUON, Wis. Tom Saleska's soccer squad got second half scores from Kyle Sytsma (SR./ Antioch, Ill.) and Keegan Van Dusseldorp (Fr./ Burlington, Wis.) to advance to the semi-final round of the NAC Tournament with a 2-0 win over WLC Sunday at Fitting Field.
Coming in as the number three seed but playing without playmaker and assist leader Diego Campos (So./ Milwaukee, Wis.) the Falcons got a battle from 6th seeded Wisconsin Lutheran. Campos had to sit out the first round playoff because he had accumulated five yellow cards during the season.
The score stood 0-0 at the break, but Sytsma's tally forced WLC to send more people forward and eventually Van Dusseldorp found space for a breakaway match-sealing score with less than five minutes remaining.
CUW, which owned the shot column 16-12, will get a rematch at Aurora next week, hoping to avenge a regular season 3-2 double OT loss during the regular season.
CUW is now 11-7-1 while WLC finsihed with an 11-8-0 mark.
