Falcon men's soccer falls 1-0 to Augsburg

MEQUON, Wis.-  Those in attendance saw classic college soccer Saturday afternoon as an internationally-flavored Augsburg squad (1-1-1) and Midwest-dominated Concordia Wisconsin lineup matched tactics for 90 exciting minutes of what turned out to be a 1-0 win for the visitors.

The first half was an absolute stalemate with statistics dead even and a 0-0 score to show for tons of energy by both sides.  It was the early moments of the second period that Falcon booters would like to have back.

Augsburg's Lekpea Kordah took a one touch pass from teammate Scott Clinton on Augsburg's first organized possession after halftime and slid his shot under a diving Falcon goalie Sam Ische

CUW had several opportunities against a fast and skilled defense that has not allowed a single goal in 270 minutes of regulation play this season, but Tom Saleska's team could not put home the equalizer.

Once again overall statistics favored Concordia with an 11-7 shots advantage and 8-4 corner kick edge, but ..." A single breakdown can cost you a match against a team of Augsburg's caliber", rationalized Saleska.
