Dominican is Men's Soccer coaches' choice; like always!

MEQUON, Wis.- The Dominican Stars were the undisputed choice to win the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference Men's Soccer Championship according to the preseason coaches' poll.

The Stars have won all six titles since the league's formation in 2006 and received all 12 first-place votes for 144 points. Concordia Wisconsin was the second choice with 125, followed by MSOE with 118 and Aurora with 112.

Edgewood was slated fifth with 95 points, Benedictine sixth with 76, Marian seventh with 68 and Lakeland eighth with 59. Wisconsin Lutheran was ninth with 52, followed by Concordia Chicago with 45, Maranatha with 30 and Rockford completed the poll with 12 points.

Dominican finished last season at 19-3 overall, and an unblemished 11-0 in NAC play. The Stars, ranked 17th in the NSCAA Coaches' Preseason Poll, also won their sixth-straight conference tournament title for their 10th-consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Dominican, which advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, returns three first team All NAC performers.

The league's six-team conference tournament will take place Oct. 28-Nov. 3, with the tournament champion receiving the NAC's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA III Championship Tournament.
