Men's Lacrosse ready for NCAA Tournament game at Denison

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin will play in its first NCAA Tournament game on Wednesday at 7:30 pm ET against Denison at Piper Stadium in Granville, Ohio.

The Falcons, coming off their first MLC Tournament Championship victory, received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They are riding a program-record 10 game winning streak and hold a 15-3 overall record, with the 15 victories also being a program record. During the season they outscored opponents by double-digits in seven games and own a 232-103 scoring advantage over the opposition. They have also scored 30 man-up goals.

Concordia Wisconsin ranks second nationally in scoring defense at 5.72 goals-against per game, while senior goalkeeper Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) ranks first nationally in goals-against average (5.99) and save percentage (67.8). They won the MLC regular season title with an 11-0 record and defeated Aurora, 9-7, in the MLC Tournament Championship game on Saturday.

Denison, who is 16-2 overall, won the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) with a 17-11 victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday and is making its 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Big Red is riding a 13-game winning streak and is ranked ninth nationally in the latest USILA Coaches Poll and fourth in the latest NCAA South Region.

The Big Red rank fifth nationally in fewest turnover per game (15.89) and 12th in assists per game (10.33). They are also 12th in points per game (27.28). Peter Pittroff is second in assists per game (4.06) in the country.

The winner of Wednesday's second round matchup will move on to play the winner of the Illinois Wesleyan vs. Rhodes on Saturday, May 11.
