Falcons take easy win over Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Eleven players scored and Concordia Wisconsin piled on nine goals during the second quarter to run away with a 16-3 non-conference victory at Medaille on Friday afternoon to conclude its spring break trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin led 4-1 after the first 15 minutes of play and blew the game wide open with nine goals during the second quarter to own a 13-1 lead at halftime. During the second quarter alone, six different Falcons found the back of the net and sophomore Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) had a hat trick and also assisted on a pair of goals.
- While the offense was having its way, the defense was impressive and limited the Mavericks to nine first-half shots. As well, they won 14-of-16 faceoffs in the first half, which was important in blowing the game wide open.
- Senior Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Ryan LeFebvre (Chicago, Ill.) each had a pair of goals. Freshman Ryan Jaffray (Naperville, Ill.) found the back of the net for the first time in his career with 14:06 to play before halftime and added another in the fourth quarter.
- Sophomore Connor Peterson (Calgary, Alberta) scored his first career goal with 4:14 to play in the second quarter., while senior Sebastian Leck (O'Fallon, Ill.) tallied the first goal of his career with 11:45 before halftime, as he has played on the defensive side of the field during his the last three-plus seasons.
- Senior Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) played the first 15 minutes of the game and made two saves before giving way to sophomore Alex Loding (Mundelein, Ill.) who stopped eight shots over the final three quarters.
- Junior Ben Gramarossa (Smithtown, N.Y.) won 10-of-12 faceoffs and senior Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) won 8-of-10 in the faceoff circles. Melby picked up a team-high five ground balls.
- Three different Medaille players scored a goal and Jake Rush picked up eight ground balls.

GAME NOTES
- The Falcons won 18-of-23 faceoffs in the game and had a season-high 45 ground balls. They also outshot the Mavericks 46-25 and 25-13 on goal.
- Concordia Wisconsin is 3-1 during the first four games of its five-game road trip and will have traveled an estimated 2,000 miles during its two weeks away from home.
