Leen named to Ireland Lacrosse roster

DUBLIN, IRELAND – Former Concordia Wisconsin Men's Lacrosse student-athlete Patrick Leen has been named to the Ireland Lacrosse 23-player roster for the Men's Indoor National team, which is set to compete in the FIL 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship from September 19-28, 2019 in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.

"Pat was a great student-athlete on and off the field during his time here at CUW," head coach Michael Fahey said. "He was very coachable and a physical defensive presence for our team. Pat was a natural leader and I think that will transition very well for him with Team Ireland. We are very excited to see that his hard work paid off with him making the Irish National team and we are very excited to see how he performs at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships."

Leen was a four-year member for Concordia Wisconsin, helping the Falcons to a 45-23 overall record and a 24-8 league record during his time. His efforts helped the team win a program-record 14 victories during the 2014 season. During his time as a Falcon, he appeared in 62 games, picking up 62 ground balls and causing 17 turnovers as a defensive midfielder.

Ireland Lacrosse is currently ranked sixth in the World and will be looking to improve their ranking coming off of a promising showing at the 2017 European Box Lacrosse Championship in Turku, Finland. The team returns 17 veteran players and welcomes six newcomers. The players named to the roster were selected after an intensive selection camp in Dublin.

Team Ireland head coach Jeff Dowling remarked, "As a coaching staff, we can't wait to get started preparing our team for success at the 2019 WILC. We are excited about our opportunities as we return a number of highly skilled offensive players."
