Men’s Lacrosse season ends in MLC Tournament Championship

AURORA, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin struck first on Saturday afternoon, but Aurora answered with 11-straight goals en route to a 16-3 victory during the MLC Tournament Championship game. It was the fourth time in a row the two teams met for the title.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Jack Donnellan (Grayslake, Ill.) found the back of the net just over three minutes into the game, but from then on it was all Aurora as the hosts scored 11 goals over the next 42 minutes to take control of the matchup.
- Junior Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) had a man-up goal with 11:39 to play in the game, with the assist credited to sophomore Collin Berman (San Marcos, Calif.). Sophomore Warner Marquez (Danville, Calif.) had the game's final goal with two minutes to play, with Donnellan assisting on the play.
- Junior Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) made 15 saves in goal and picked up five ground balls.
- Sophomore Nathan Oekerman (Beaverton, Ore.) led the defense with three caused turnovers and five ground balls.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Aurora held a 53-21 difference in shots (34-16 on goal), 35-21 advantage in ground balls and won 14-of-22 faceoffs.
- As well, each team scored a man-up marker.
- Gregory ended the season with 35 goals, which is tied for the fourth-most in a season in program history.
- Fisher obliterated the record for caused turnovers in a season, which he set last season with 43, as he ended with 57 this year.
- Wohlford tied the season record for saves with 184, which he previously set in 2016. He also tied the season record for wins with 13.
- The Falcons 33 man-up goals were the second most in a season in program history, along with their 13 victories. They also set the season record for save percentage (.619).

THE OPPOSITION
- Joey Lucchesi led all players with five goals, while Tanner Lerdahl added four goals of his own. Nick Glaser scored twice and five other Spartans also had a goal.
- Corey Segall won 10-of-16 faceoff and picked up seven ground balls. Chad Ronk and Bryce Wallgard each had three caused turnovers.
- Tyler Lombardi made 12 saves in a winning effort in goal.
