Wohlford named DPOY, MLC announces postseason awards

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Garrett Wohlford earned Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors, while Concordia Wisconsin had 10 players named All-MLC, the league office announced.

Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) leads the MLC win save percentage (62.8) and is seventh nationally, while also ranking in saves (169) for the conference and 10th in the country. The junior has all 13 wins for the Falcons this season and has made double-digit saves in 11 games. This is the third-straight year he has achieved such an honor and is the only three-time MLC Defensive Player of the Year. He also named All-MLC First Team.

Paul Fisher (Champlin, Minn.) was named All-MLC First Team as a defender after leading the MLC in caused turnovers (56) and ranking fourth nationally. He set the program's single-season record for caused turnovers and has three or more turnovers in nine contests. The senior also set the program's game record with 11 caused turnovers in the season opener.

Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) received All-MLC First Team honors after leading the team's offense with 49 points (34 goals, 15 assists). He ranks top-10 in the league for goals and has five man-up markers to his credit. The junior has three or more points in 10 games this season and has accumulated 14 over the last three contests.

Ben Gramarossa (Smithtown, N.Y.) was named All-MLC Second Team and is the primary faceoff specialist for the Falcons. He won 142-of-230 attempts, which ranks fifth in the MLC, and has a 61.7 faceoff winning percentage. The sophomore won double-figure faceoffs in nine games and is 33-of-51 over the last three games.

Mario Baregi (Champlin, Minn.) was tagged with All-MLC Second Team accolades as a short-stick defender. The junior has 32 ground balls and 16 turnovers this season, along with two goals. He picked up multiple ground balls in seven games, including a career-high eight on April 28.

Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) received All-MLC Honorable Mention honors as an attacker after accumulating 41 points (25 goals, 16 assists), which was third on the team. He ranks fifth in the MLC with seven man-up goals. The rookie has four-consecutive hat tricks from March 17-31 in the middle of the season.

Jack Donnellan (Grayslake, Ill.) earned All-MLC Honorable Mention recognition as an attacker after ranking fourth on the team in points with 39 (23 goals, 16 assists). He is ninth in the conference with five man-up goals. The junior has multiple points in 12 games.

Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, Ill.) was named All-MLC Honorable Mention as a midfielder and was second on the Falcons roster with 45 points (31 goals, 14 assists). He is fifth in the league with seven man-up goals. The junior has three or more goals six time, including a career-high five goals on March 17.

Ryan Voskuil (Flower Mound, Texas) added All-MLC Honorable Mention honors as a defender to his résumé recording 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. The sophomore picked up multiple ground balls in six games this season.

Nathan Oekerman (Beaverton, Ore.) received All-MLC Honorable Mention accolades as a long-stick midfielder. The sophomore has 33 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. He has multiple ground balls in 11 games.

Sebastian Leck (O'Fallon, Ill.) was named to the MLC All-Sportsmanship Team. The junior has played in 16 games, picked up 15 ground balls and caused eight turnovers.

The Falcons earned the second seed for the MLC Tournament after posting an 8-1 record. They defeated Benedictine 9-6 on Wednesday to advance to their fourth-straight MLC Tournament Championship game on Saturday at Aurora, with the first faceoff scheduled for 1 pm.
