Falcons advance to the MLC Tournament Championship

MEQUON, Wis. – Stephen Gregory and Aidan Connolly charged the offense and Garrett Wohlford stonewalled Benedictine during a Concordia Wisconsin 9-6 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field. The victory advances the Falcons to the MLC Tournament Championship game on Saturday at Aurora for a 1 pm start.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, Ill.) netted a pair of goals before junior Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) tickled the twine three times in a row to push Concordia Wisconsin's advantage to 5-0 with 10:057 to play before halftime. From then on Garrett Wohlford and the rest defense took over to slow down and make it difficult on Benedictine. During the first half, the Falcons caused six turnovers and Wohlford had 10 saves.
- The visitors got within 6-4 late in the third quarter, but again it was Connolly and Gregory who had an answer within the first five minutes of the final period to put down any chance of an upset. The Falcons ended 2-of-4 on man-up chances, with both coming from Connolly which was a career-high.
- Senior Paul Fisher (Champlin, Minn.) did the majority of his damage in the early going, causing three turnovers; while sophomore Ben Gramarossa (Smithtown, N.Y.) won 10-of-18 faceoffs and picked up six ground balls.
- Gregory had a career-high-tying five goals, while junior Jack Donnellan (Grayslake, Ill.) scored a goal and sophomore Collin Berman (San Marcos, Calif.) recorded two assists. A trio of other Falcons also had an assist.
- Wohlford ended with 14 saves to earn a victory during a complete game effort.
