Falcons cruise past Griffins in MLC victory

ST LOUIS – Concordia Wisconsin began the game with 13-straight goals en route to an overwhelming 21-4 victory at Fontbonne on Saturday during MLC play at Centene Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a total team effort during the league contest for the Falcons, who had 34 players get into the game and 11 find the back of the net. In addition, four goalkeepers made an appearance between the pipes.
- Concordia Wisconsin piled on seven goals in the opening period, five in the second quarter and added another midway through the third to build a comfortable 13-0 advantage. After Fontbonne's first score of the game at the 7:05 mark of the third quarter, the Falcons tallied five more unanswered markers to go ahead 18-1 after 45 minutes of play.
- The Falcons ended with a 59-12 difference in shots (35-9 on goal), 42-13 advantage in ground balls and won 25-of-28 clear attempts. They also were successful on 3-of-4 man-up chances.
- Freshman Keijo Day (Esko, Min.) and sophomore Collin Berman (San Marcos, Calif.) each had a hat trick, while six others scored twice and three Falcons had one goal. Berman also had three assists for a career-high six points.
- Junior Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) was a perfect 14-of-14 on faceoff attempts and sophomore Ben Gramarossa (Smithtown, N.Y.) was a successful 11-of-14. Gramarossa had a career-high 10 ground balls.
- Junior Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) made three saves in 28 minutes of action to earn the win.

- Concordia Wisconsin has won six-consecutive games over Fontbonne by an average of 14 goals and holds a 123-40 scoring advantage.
- The Falcons 21 goals is the most since scoring 23 last season on April 15 in a victory over Concordia Chicago.
- Concordia Wisconsin had 16 assists, which is tied for the seventh most in a game in program history, while its 59 shots are the sixth most and the 25 faceoff wins are the second most.

THE OPPOSITION
- Matt Rech had two goals to lead the hosting team and Nick Fresta made 11 saves in net.
