Men's Lacrosse drops non-conference game at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado College jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 17-11 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in a non-conference contest on Wednesday night.

Nick Ahrens scored twice to lead the Tigers to an 8-0 advantage midway through the second quarter. CC (6-4) increased its lead to as many as 12 goals with nine minutes to play in the final quarter at Washburn Field.

CUW (5-3) put a valiant effort in the final period with six goals – two by junior Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and sophomore Derek Brueske (Hopkins, Minn.) – but the deficit was too much to overcome. The Falcons held an 18-8 shots advantage in the fourth quarter, but CC outshot them 47-37 in the game. Junior Justin Krause (Hartland, Wis.) also added two goals of his own.

Henri Halle led six players with at least two goals, as he netted a hat trick in the win. Sayre Thomas won five of the team's 15 faceoff victories and Will Harris picked up three ground balls.

Freshman Danny Bundra (Lake Zurich, Ill.) won 16-of-27 faceoffs for the Falcons – an individual game record – and recorded four ground balls in the contest.

CUW makes the long trek home to begin preparing for back-to-back home games against MLC foes Hanover College and Defiance College on April 6-7 at Fitting Field.
