Men’s Hockey ties Trine; Guerra breaks school record

ANGOLA, Ind. – The CUW men's hockey team earned a point in the NCHA standings with a come from behind 2-2 tie at Trine. The Falcons move to 8-5-2 on the season and to 4-4-2 in the NCHA. Special teams played a key role on Saturday, with all four goals coming on the power play.

The Falcons struck first on the power play on Saturday. Junior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.) scored off passes from senior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.) and junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.).

The Thunder took the lead with two power-play goals.

The power play struck again for the Falcons late in the third period. Nick Guerra struck again to break the school record for career goals. Sophomore Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.) had the assist on the game-tying goal.

The goal was his 34th of his career and breaks the school record for career goals, passing Devin Stuermer.

The Thunder held a 32-27 advantage in shots on Saturday. Nick Guerra led CUW with six shots.

Sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) secured 30 saves in the tie.

The Falcons will return to action on Friday at Lawrence.
