Men’s Hockey ices St. Scholastica

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team posted a positive result for the third time in the last four games. The Falcons improved to 4-10-2 on the year and 2-6-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with the 4-2 victory over St. Scholastica. In the last four games, the Falcons have two victories and a shootout victory.

"We had some great goaltending tonight," said head coach Jasen Wise. "Special teams played well with two power-play goals and a shorthanded goal. We had great production from all foru lines. Tonight was a great team win tonight. The boys stuck together and played their best with the game on the line."

Freshman Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.) opened the Friday night scoring in the first period off a pass from freshman Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.).

The Saints evened the game on the power play in the second period.

The Falcon power play remained hot against CSS. Sophomore Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.) broke the tie on the power play. Senior Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ont.) was credited with the assist.

Senior Eric Therrien (Willow Bunch, Sask.) stole the puck on the penalty kick and scored short handed to push the lead to 3-1.

St. Scholastica added another goal six minutes later.

Junior Josh Adkins (Victoria, B.C.) closed the scoring on and empty net.

Freshman Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) had 26 saves in the victory.

The 4-2 victory is the first home victory of the year and the first home game that was not decided by one goal or less.

The Falcons continue the home stand on Saturday against Northland.
