Kangaroos kick Men’s Hockey at PathFinder Bank Classic

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The CUW men's hockey team opened 2019 with a 5-2 loss in the PathFinder Bank Classic semifinals to SUNY Canton. The loss moves the Falcons to 3-10-1 on the season.

Senior Stefen Seel (Invermere, B.C.) started the scoring on the power play in the first period. Seel found the back of the net past the goalie's right side off a pass from freshman Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.).

The Kangaroos tied the game two minutes later.

Canton took the lead with a top-shelf goal in the second period and added another in the third period to push the lead to 3-1.

Senior Adam Fauchoux (Prince Albert, Sask.) was able to sneak past defense off a pass from sophomore Andrej Buchko (Peoria, Ill.) and score a shorthanded goal to cut the deficit to one goal.

The Kangaroos scored two goals in the final minute of play on an empty net.

Freshman Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) posted 25 saves in the net.

Senior Tayler Gauld (Whitby, Ont.) led CUW with six shots on Friday.

The Blue and White killed off both penalties against the Kangaroos.

CUW outshot SUNY Canton on Friday afternoon, 44-38.

The Falcons will play in the consolation game of the PathFinder Bank Classic against either Oswego State or Salve Regina.
