Men’s hockey falls at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team came up short in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association matchup on Tuesday. The Vikings of Lawrence defeated CUW, 5-2. The Falcons fall to 2-8-1 and 0-6-1 in the NCHA. Lawrence improves to 3-8-0 and 2-5-0 in the NCHA.

The Vikings opened the game on a 3-0 run.

Lawrence pulled the goalie in the final seconds of the first period and the Falcons took advantage. Junior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.) scored on the empty net right before time expired in the first period.

Lawrence pushed the lead to 5-1.

Sophomore Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.) closed the scoring with a goal in the final three minutes.

Freshman Erik Schuette (Olathe, Kan.) made his first start in net on Tuesday. Freshman Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) and Schuette both recorded 14 saves.

The CUW penalty killed off all seven Lawrence power plays. CUW has killed off the last 12 penalties.

The Falcons will host their final home game before the break on Friday against the No. 1-ranked Pointers of UW-Stevens Point.
