Men’s Hockey breaks school record at Bethel

BLAINE, Minn. – The Falcons brought out the brooms for the weekend on Saturday at Bethel. The CUW men's hockey team had an offensive explosion with a 9-2 victory. The Victory moves CUW to 2-5-1 and sends Bethel to 0-9-1. The nine goals is the most in a single game in program history.

"The boys played with grit tonight and were rewarded," said head coach Jasen Wise. "It started with shooting the puck more, with a good presence at the net looking for rebounds. It was good to see some of our freshmen get their first goals. Guerra continues to score by going to the net. His hat trick was the first one we have had in a very long time. It's good to see the boys get rewarded for their efforts."

Freshman Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) started the scoring with his first goal as a Falcon off a pass from senior Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ont.).

After a Bethel goal, the Blue and White received goals from sophomore Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.) and senior Connor Hogg (London, Ont.).

The second period saw five Falcon goals. In the first six minutes, Nick Guerra and junior Jim Pearson (Ashton, Ont.) found the back of the net.

Freshman Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.) and junior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.) scored 39 seconds apart to give the Falcons a 7-2 lead. The goal from MacKinnon was his first at CUW.

Nick Guerra finished off the hat trick on the power play late in the second period. Taylor Gauld and Nick Guiney were credited with the assists.

Nick Guerra is the fourth Falcon to record a hat trick.

Junior Josh Adkins (Victoria, B.C.) scored the ninth goal, with Jim Pearson and Connor Hogg earning the assists.

Sophomore Dakota Delbridge (Tracy, Calif.) earned the victory with seven saves. Freshman Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) posted 27 saves on Saturday.

Nick Guerra had a game-high three goals and also added an assist.

Nick Guiney went apple picking on Saturday and finished with three assists.

10 Falcons recorded a point against Bethel.

Bo Didur and Nick Guerra both threw five shots on the net.

CUW outshot Bethel on Saturday, 42-36.

The Falcons won 33 faceoffs against the Royals. Dante Hahn had a game-high 13, with Connor Hogg finishing with 10 victories.

The Blue and White kills off all three power-play opportunities from Bethel.

The previous school record was eight goals in a game, which had been accomplished three different time, Nov. 19, 2014 against Aurora, Dec. 7, 20313 at Finlandia and Dec. 13, 2008 against Minnesota Crookston.

The Falcons return to action on Friday at Aurora.
