Men’s Hockey stings Saint John’s

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The CUW men's hockey team picked up its first victory of the season with a 3-2 road victory at Saint John's. The Johnnies move to 5-3-1 with the loss.

"The boys earned this one," said head coach Jasen Wise. "They worked hard for ever puck. We scored goals by going hard to the net and earning the bounces. We played fast and clean."

Saint John's struck first in the first period on the power play with a goal from Robb Stautz.

The Falcons tied up the game on the power play off the stick of senior Stefen Seel (Invermere, B.C.). Tapping the puck in past the Jonnies' goalie. Sophomore Nick Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) was credited with the assist.

After a SJU goal, the Falcons were able to tie the game on a two-on-one advantage from sophomore Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.). Junior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.) and freshman Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) had the CUW assists.

Freshman Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) posted 23 saves in the win for the Falcons on Friday night.

Great passing put the Falcons on top late with a point-black shot from Nick Guerra. Dante Hahn and Nick Guiney had the Falcon assists.

The Falcons won 27 of the 48 faceoffs on Friday. Senior Connor Hogg (London, Ont.) had a game-high 10.

CUW outshot the Johnnies, 32-25. Nick Guerra led the Falcons with five shots.
