Men's Hockey sends Seniors out on a winning note

MEQUON, Wis. – A goal from Josh Adkins in the third period and a 25-save performance from Nate Eminger helped the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team close its season with a 2-1 win over Northland College. The Falcons also celebrated four seniors – Tanner Bull, Josh Herrington, David Haaf and Brandt Weldon – who all played their final game in a CUW uniform.

SENIORS POSTGAME

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons struck just 2:14 into play on Saturday when junior Travis Marti (Assiniboia, Saskatchewan) gave his team a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Stefen Seel (Invermere, British Columbia) and junior Nick Szopinski (Beaver Dam, Wis.) picked up assists on the opening goal.

- Northland would tie the game with a goal in the second period, but Adkins provided the game-winner 4:50 into the final stanza. Adkins (Victoria, British Columbia) scored his third goal in the past two games, this game-winner being assisted by freshman Mac Ferner (Vernon, British Columbia) and sophomore Adam Fauchoux (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan).

- Eminger (Green Bay, Wis.) played well in his first career start, making 25 saves to help his team secure the season-ending victory. His 25-save effort included a perfect third period, which featured 11 saves.

- The Falcons penalty kill was on point Saturday, killing off all five of the Lumberjacks power play opportunities. CUW finished the game 0-for-3 on the power play.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Bull, Haaf, Herrington, and Weldon were a part of a senior class that won 42 games over the past four seasons. When this class arrived on campus the Falcons had never produced a double-digit win total for a season, and now have three such seasons over the past four years.

- Bull (Brooklin, Ontario) also set a program record Saturday by skating in his 105th career game. The Falcons captain never missed a game in his four years.

- The 13 wins this season were a program-record for the Falcons. It also marked the first season CUW finished with an above .500 record in NCHA play.
