CONNOR HOGG POSTGAME

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) was brilliant between the pipes in his first career shutout. He made a career-best 33 saves to pick up his second win in as many nights. Malvin stopped 12 in the first, 10 in the second, and 11 more in the third period.

- The game was scoreless until just two seconds remained in the second period. That's when Hogg (London, Ontario) electrified the crowd at the Ozaukee Ice Center with his ninth goal of the season. Hogg's last second score was assisted by sophomore Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ontario).

- The final two goals were empty-netters for the Falcons, securing the sweep. Freshman Josh Adkins (Victoria, British Columbia) scored with 1:36 left on the clock with senior Brandt Weldon (The Pas, Manitoba) gaining an assist.

- Hogg then put the exclamation point on the win with an empty-netter with 46 seconds left on the clock. Senior Josh Herrington (Aurora, Ontario) and Gauld picked up assists on the night's final tally.

- The Falcons penalty kill was on point as they stopped the Green Knights on all four of their power play chances, including one in the final minutes to help maintain a then one-goal lead.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- CUW had never defeated St. Norbert before the weekend and had never defeated a No. 1 ranked team and they now have done both on back-to-back nights.

- The win also helps the Falcons keep pace in a crowded NCHA South playoff race. CUW came into the night in third place in the South, but just one point back of Marian and two points ahead of MSOE. The top three teams from each division make the Harris Cup Playoffs.

- Hogg had a monster weekend for the Falcons. He had two points last night, although an expected stat change will likely make that a three-point game from Friday, followed by two more points tonight. He and Malvin certainly rose their level of play against the top-ranked Green Knights.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will be back in action next weekend with two NCHA road games against St. Scholastica. The opener in Duluth is set for Friday night at 7 p.m.
