Fratzke and Coach Cassidy achieve career marks in NACC victory against Dominican

MEQUON, Wis. – Inside the R. John Buuck Field House, emotions ran high, as Head Coach Shawn Cassidy and senior Andrew Fratzke both achieved career milestones in a matchup against the Dominican Stars. The Falcons came away with an 81-66 victory against the Dominican Stars, that put them in contention for a top seed in the NACC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The crowd rose to their feet when senior Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) came up to the line for two free throws after he drew a foul. The senior knew he was one point away from the career milestone of 1,000 points and felt the crowd exhale with a sigh, as he missed the first of two. Then, as calm as ever went through his routine and sunk the second free throw to send his teammates into a frenzy and his name into the record books. Fratzke now has exactly 1,000 career points and only looks to build that total in the coming games.
- If you were in the stands today you got a workout, as Head Coach Shawn Cassidy hit the 200-win mark, as the buzzer sounded, and the scoreboard had Concordia Wisconsin on top. Cassidy is the second coach to reach that mark in program history and is only 15 wins behind program leader William Ackman. Cassidy will no doubt be on top of the wins list once his time at CUW is over.
- While the milestones overshadowed the night, CUW did notch another impressive NACC victory. The Falcons had excellent offensive balance, as four player recorded double digit points and senior Jake Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Senior Noah Gosse (Green Bay, Wis.) chipped in 10 points along with freshman Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.) both coming off the bench. The Falcons defense was smothering, as Dominican was thrown off their timing, which resulted in tough shots and turnovers. Concordia Wisconsin had 12 steals on the night, as well as holding Dominican to 28 percent from behind the 3-point line. The defensive energy allowed CUW to pull ahead and capture the 81-66 conference victory.
