Falcons take the victory on senior day over MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – In a matchup of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, Concordia Wisconsin took care of the top team in the conference by the score of 91-79 inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The energy that radiated through the building on a day that five seniors were honored for their time with the basketball program, gave life to a highly anticipated matchup. The Falcons and Raiders both had so much to play for, but it was CUW that proved to be the better team tonight, as they used a balanced scoring attack and played great situational defense in big moments to pull away with the 91-79 victory.
- Having scoring options all over the floor, helped Concordia Wisconsin keep the pressure on MSOE all evening. The Falcons had all five starters record 14 or more points during the contest. Senior Jake Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) had a team-high 22 points and four 3-point baskets with three coming in the first half. Senior Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) also had a huge senior day, as Fratzke rose over multiple defenders on several dunks to get the fans on their feet and give momentum to CUW throughout the game. Including an alley-oop slam on a pass from senior Josh Hau (Slinger, Wis.) who saw Fratzke leap in the air and snatch the ball with one hand, who then continued to throw the ball through the rim to complete the vicious slam in the last minutes of the game, putting an exclamation point on the hard-fought victory for CUW.
- Defense came up big for the Falcons when they needed it the most, as they capitalized on the energy from the home crowd and were flying all over the floor. Concordia Wisconsin held MSOE to 39.1 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from behind the arch. Every time MSOE would look to be closing the gap, the Falcons would come away with a big steal or string together a few defensive stops to push the lead back to arm's length. CUW had 10 steals and forced 15 turnovers compared to only nine turnovers of their own.
- Senior Josh Hau (Slinger, Wis.) had 17 points and freshman Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) led the team with eight assists along with 18 points. Sophomore Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) chipped in 18 points and corralled a team-high nine rebounds to round out the starting five for the Falcons. MSOE relied on Matthew Kirmse who netted a game-high 25 points, while Bailey McDaniel chipped in 12 points from off the bench for the Raiders.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The series history between the two sits at 28-16 in favor of the Falcons. Although the series has been tightening up, as of late with the last 10 games, seeing CUW take six victories and four losses.
