Game-tying layup off the mark for Men's Basketball

AURORA, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin had one last attempt at a game-tying layup after going coast-to-coast, but it was off the mark and its season came to an end with a 69-67 loss to Benedictine in a NACC Tournament semifinal game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin fouled Benedictine with 7.8 seconds to play because it was down a point and needed to save time, which resulted in the Eagles making the first of two free throws. The second miss allowed the Falcons a chance to either win or tie the game and after dribbling coast-to-coast a layup attempt was off the mark as time expired.
- The game was close throughout with nine scoring ties and 12 lead changes. Concordia Wisconsin fell behind quickly, 14-6, in the first two-plus minutes, but responded with a 14-7 run to tie the game and make it close the rest of the way.
- The Falcons ended with an 18-8 advantage in points off turnovers but were outscored 12-2 on second-chance points. The Eagles held a 44-35 difference in rebounds and hauled in 12 offensive rebounds.
- Freshman Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished with a team-high 23 points, to go along with five assists and four rebounds. Junior Josh Hau (Slinger, Wis.) scored 11 points, while junior Noah Gosse (Green Bay, Wis.) tallied five points, six rebounds and two assists off the bench.
- Junior Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) had six points and 10 rebounds. Senior Josh Erickson (Manitowoc, Wis.) scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds in the final game of his career.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Hau ended the season with 455 points, which is the fourth-most in program history (NCAA era) and his 84.3 percent at the free throw line was the fifth best in a season.
- Fratzke made 61.8 percent of his field goal attempts, which was the second highest in a season.
- Johnson drained 87.5 percent of his free throws, which was the second-best in a season.
- Concordia Wisconsin had an outstanding year shooting the ball, setting a single-season record for free throw percentage (78.7) while having the second-best field goal percentage (47.4).
- Defensively, the Falcons allowed just 30.5 percent of 3-pointer made to go in against them, ranking as the second-best percentage in a season in program history.

THE OPPOSITION
- Brayden Olson had a game-high 34 points, three assists and two steals, but turned the ball over seven times.
- Jens Soderholm ended with a double-double (11 points and 14 rebounds), while Kenny Bogus netted 15 points.
