Courtside Notes: Falcons battles Muskies in NACC matchup

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin ready to squish the fish on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm when it hosts Lakeland in a NACC contest inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

NEWSWORTHY NOTES
• THE ABILITY TO SCORE: It doesn't take long for a number of Falcons to pile up points during a game, evident by Josh Hau's career-high-tying 30 points on Thursday night at Edgewood. This season the combination of Hau, Jake Jurss and Jordan Johnson have each scored 20 or more points in a game three times.
• NOW IS THE TIME: Concordia Wisconsin has had its ups and downs this season during league play, registering a 5-5 record entering Saturday. With half of NACC play behind the Falcons, now is the time for them to make a move up the standings and into the top six for postseason play. Currently they sit in the seventh spot. The Falcons entered the season picked to finish second in the NACC Preseason Poll.
•  MUST FIND A WAY: The Falcons defense has to rise to the occasion on Saturday to slow down the Muskies, who lead the NACC in points (85.1), 3-pointers (9.9) and fewest turnovers per game (11.1). Meanwhile, they'll have to catch fire from outside because Lakeland limits the opposition to a NACC-best 42.4 percent from the field.
• SCOUTING LAKELAND: The Muskies enter Saturday on a three-game winning streak and has won each game by 10-plus points. They have fared much better in wins, compared to losses. Lakeland is averaging 91.1 points on 45.1 percent from the field in wins, while scoring 73.2 points on 40.3 percent in defeats. Carlos Campus leads the Muskies at 17.3 points per game and leads the NACC at the free throw line (89.8 percent), while Pat McDonald has 52 assists (sixth in NACC) and 23 steals (fifth in NACC). Sahkur Jinad will be difficult to guard, as he is second in the NACC for 3-point percent (41.7) and offensive rebounds (35).
