NEWSWORTHY NOTES
- HEARTBREAK LAST SEASON:
Loras' Ryan DiCanio drained a 3-pointer with two seconds to play last season in a December 19 matchup to give the hosts a 102-99 victory over Concordia Wisconsin. Both teams shot over 53 percent, including 39-plus percent from downtown. Jake Jurss had 21 points, while Josh Hau netted 13 points off the bench.
- A LOT RETURNING:
Concordia Wisconsin returns a vast amount of scoring from a season ago, 68.8 percent to be exact (1,638 points). Four of the top five scorers from a season ago are back in the starting lineup. In addition, the Falcons love to torch the nets from deep, and last season Jake Jurss, Josh Hau, Josh Erickson and Noah Gosse combined for 180 3-pointers.
- EXPERIENCE GOES A LONG WAY:
It gets overlooked at times, but experienced players can lead a team to championships and the Falcons have a lot of experience on this year's roster. There are five players on the roster who have played in 37 or more games and are led by senior Josh Erickson who has appeared in 72 career games and started 28.
- HOME OPENING STRONG:
Concordia Wisconsin has put together a strong 8-2 record at home during head coach Shawn Cassidy's tenure. They have scored over 80 points seven times and have won two straight home openers.
-RESILIENCY:
The Falcons are 15-6 after losing two games back to back in a season since the 2007-2008 campaign. Concordia Wisconsin has averaged 80.2 points-per-game after losing two straight and have held opponents to 72.1 points-per-game during that span. CUW has started the season 0-2 losing tough road games to Carroll and Simpson.
