MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin couldn't take advantage of Keith Kahlfeldt's career-high 33 points, as it fell 88-80 to Aurora University on Saturday inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

The Falcons led by 11 points with 12 minutes to play in the second half, but the Spartans answered with a 23-6 scoring run over the next seven minutes and 46 seconds to take control down the stretch. There were six scoring ties and five lead changes.

Kahlfeldt (sophomore, New Berlin, Wis.) was an efficient 16-of-20 from the floor to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. His 16 field goals made was one shy of tying the single game record set by Jeff Golfteyn in 1980.

Freshman Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) ended the contest with five points, four rebounds and career highs in assists (four) and steals (three).

Junior Mark Scholz (Greenfield, Wis.) also had seven points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in 29 minutes of action.

Scott Laskowski hurt the Falcons with 25 points on 12-of-15 shooting off the bench. He also had nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals for the Spartans (3-2, 1-0 NACC). Brandon Smith and Kalmon Stokes each scored 19 points, while Kyle Pilmer tallied eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked a game-high five shots.

CUW (1-3, 0-1 NACC) built a slim five-point advantage with just under 12 minutes to play in the first half before AU scored 10 unanswered points. The Falcons tied the game at 28-28 a few minutes later, but the Spartans twice regained the lead by seven points.

AU held a 39-35 lead at halftime behind 13 points from Laskowski. During the opening 20 minutes of play the Spartans scored 32 points in the paint and held a 21-13 advantage in bench scoring.

The Falcons cut their deficit to two points, 78-76, after sophomore Brett Boettcher (New Holstein, Wis.) made the first of two free throw attempts. It was as close as they would get during the final one minute and 16 seconds of action.

CUW went to paint in the second half for its scoring (32 points), but allowed AU to score 56 points in the colored.

CUW returns to action Tuesday with a 7 p.m. matchup against Edgewood College inside the R. John Buuck Field House.
